Just Some Stuff I Feel Merits Sharing

Political Interference in Science

Ian Thomas
A scientist formerly working with the United States Geological Survey is sacked for posting maps showing caribou calving areas in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Apparently, since oil companies want to drill in this area, someone decided you shouldn't be allowed to see the actual environmental data.

Supporting Australian Business on a Grassroots Level

Oztion.com.au
eBay have dominated the online market here in Australia for some years, since the homegrown Sold.com.au was purchased by Yahoo! and run into the ground. eBay actively drew more and more people to sell, promising them the means to "grow" their businesses. Meanwhile the site became less and less usable with many broken features, more and more infested with spammers, scammers, and sellers of junk, and eBay's response to this was not to do something about the corrupt system and the broken web features. Their response was to raise fees to the point that many small and large Australian businesses suddenly found themselves unable to make a profit on eBay.com.au. Ebay's response to the outcry? Utter and complete silence. Go where Australians sell and buy, and where the company cares not only about buyers but also about sellers.
